We are on a mission to reduce food waste and help feed our community.

Our charity rescues food and feeds people struggling with the cost of living in west Gateshead. Open to all, we aim to help the most vulnerable and those who wish to live a more sustainable and eco-friendly life. We also offer education to help people think about and see food differently, eat better and waste less.

  • Collection

    Our team of drivers collect from supermarkets and FareShare, 5 days a week.

  • Sorting

    The surplus food is delivered to Greenside and sorted by our team of volunteers ready for the community market.

  • Distribution

    We distribute all food items through our Thursday Market at Greenside Social Club and every Friday with our “Happy Bag Scheme”.

Our Thursday Market, open to everyone, is held at Greenside Social Club every week between 10:30-11:30am. Bring your own Bag for Life and fill it up for only £5. Doors open at 10am with hot drinks and a sandwich available for 50p each while you wait. Our food stock changes every week to give yourself and/or your family more variety in the bags. You can also browse our Charity Market for clothes, shoes, games and household items from 10am, socialise and meet new people.

We work in partnership with well known retailers

  • Aldi

    We work with Aldi at Prudhoe to collect surplus food five times a week.

  • ASDA

    We work with ASDA at Gateshead to collect surplus food twice a week.

  • Co-op

    We work with the Co-operative and collect surplus food five times a week. We collect from their stores at Crawcrook, Wylam, Whickham and Prudhoe.

  • TESCO

    We work with Tesco at Gateshead to collect surplus food twice a week.

  • FareShare

    We subscribe to Fareshare to collect food from them twice a week.

  • Morrisons

    We work with Morrisons at Blaydon to collect surplus food twice a week.

  • KFC

    We work with KFC at the Metro Centre to collect food once every couple of weeks.
